Title in German, means: 'Never be like him.'
This is going to be long, are you ready?
At first when I had the inspiration to draw this, it clearly was a drawing of Ludwig. For the little story, picture this: the whole Beilschmidt family is in the car, Gilbert is a teenager and has an argument with the parents about his lifestyle and friends. It just gets worse and worse and when the car stops before a red light, Gilbert jumps out of the car. The car moves off, it's like nothing happened for a moment. Nobody says a word. But after some time His mother says to Ludwig, with a voice trembling with anger: 'Never be like him! Promise me you'll never be like him!' And this sentence will enter Ludwig's brain and never go away, because for the first time he experiences a deep inner conflict. On one side, he looks at the night and the cold rain, he knows that Gilbert is outside and far from home, but the other part of him thinks he deserved it and he says: ' Yes, I promise.'
But I knew I felt all of it much too deep to make a fanfic out of it, and I had other ideas, numerous other ideas forming around that, and the more I was thinking of it, the less relevant it was to imagine Ludwig in the place of the little brother. It just didn't have anything to do with hetalia anymore, it was too real, deep and personal, too dark, and funny in a completely new way, I was holding in my mind the heart of a new story. Little but beating super hard and fast. I knew it would be huge. And it is. It was a year ago. I needed to think about it deeply and on my own before I could introduce this original story to you. And now really this character isn't the most important or fascinating of the story. I will soon introduce them all to you, the poeple of the island of Saint Harold.
